(New York, NY, November 8, 2025)— The Rockefeller Center Tree signals the beginning of the holiday season in New York City. This year's Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree arrived at Rockefeller Plaza. Thousands of locals and visitors gathered around Rockefeller Plaza to welcome this year's tree to kick off the 2025-2026 holiday season.
The tree was donated by the Russ family from East Greenbush, located 130 miles outside of New York City. For the Russ family, the tree has served as a backdrop for countless celebrations for over 60 years. It's approximately 75 years old, stands 75 feet tall, 45 feet in diameter, and weighs 11 tons.
On November 6th, the Tree was cut down, and transported on a flatbed truck from East Greenbush to Rockefeller Center in New York City. Over 50,000 multi-colored LED lights will stretch over approximately 5 mile wire to adorn the Tree. A 9-foot, 900-pound Swarovski star will be placed at the top of the tree, which is covered in 3 million crystals.
Following the Rockefeller Center Tree arrival, locals and visitors were welcomed to attend “Meet The Tree” event in celebration of the Tree arrival and the 60th anniversary of the beloved classic, A Charlie Brown Christmas. The family-friendly workshop featured photo opportunities with Snoopy, letters to Santa, and Make-You-Own Snoopy from Build-A-Bear and complimentary cookies from Chip City.
The Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd, starting at 7 p.m. EST. NBC's "Christmas in Rockefeller" will be broadcasted live on TV, and available to watch on Peacock.
Following the ceremony, the tree will be lit every day from 5 a.m. to midnight though mid-January 2026 (excluding Christmas Eve). On Christmas Eve, the tree will be lit for 24 hours.
At the conclusion of the 2025-2026 holiday season, the tree will milled into lumber, and donated to Habitat for Humanity.
For more than 90 years, Rockefeller Center has been a global icon in the heart of New York City. Conceived by John D. Rockefeller Jr. as a “city within the city,” the Center comprises 13 buildings connected by an underground concourse. Under the stewardship of owner and operator Tishman Speyer, the Center has become the city's most dynamic place to work, play, dine, shop, and celebrate.
Rockefeller Center is home to New York's leading attractions including The Rink, offering ice skating from October to March each year; and the Top of the Rock Observation Deck, featuring two new experiences: The Beam, recreating the iconic 1932 photo, and Skylift, elevating visitors on an open-air glass platform three stories above 30 Rock's 70th-floor rooftop for unrivaled, unobstructed 360-degree views.
Rockefeller Center is open daily and features year-round public programming, events and activations on the Plaza. During the holiday season, the Center is home to the world’s most famous Christmas Tree, as well exclusive experiences such as Après Skate Chalets and Christmas Spectacular show featuring the Radio City Rockettes.
